Who hasn’t been to a new place and wanted to try the local food but didn’t know where to start from? Well, we got you covered for your time in Alaska with a list of 7 dishes you cannot afford to miss!
1. Alaskan Reindeer Hot Dog

There is a reason why we put this on the top! What is a trip to Alaska without having this top-notch street food tried?
2. Anything Salmon

When we say ‘Salmon Anything’ we mean every bit of it! Salmon fish is abundant here and that explains a variety of dishes revolving around this.
3. Muktuk

Another native favorite is Muktuk, it’s the combination of whale blubber and skin frozen together and eaten raw.
4. Crab

Alaska has several species of crab, but among the most popular are red king, blue king, golden king, snow, and Dungeness. The biggest and most sought after is the red king crab because of its sweet and juicy flavor and monstrous portions.
5. Chocolate Bread

This sweet treat can accompany your tea in the evening or can be consumed as a dessert with some chocolate sauce.
6. Eskimo Ice-cream

A real Alaskan treat that few get the opportunity to enjoy is called “Eskimo Ice Cream,” or more accurately, “Aqutak” or “Agutuk.” Who wouldn’t want to grab an opportunity to get some of this though?
7. Fresh Jam or Berries with Ice-cream

Decadent wild berries are abundant in Alaska. From wild blueberries, cranberries, salmonberries, raspberries, blackberries to blueberries, the list doesn’t end here. So don’t hesitate to order anything “berry,” and we recommend High Bush Cranberry Jam, or, of course, any wild berry cobbler.
