Hollywood plans to shoot 9 feature films in California; includes BIG-BUDGET feature by Russo brothers

COVID-19 is not ready to leave the world, as the result the ‘normal’ life is getting hampered.

So many offices got shut, people are getting laid off and not only that, if you talk about the entertainment industry, even that’s getting affected.

With the ongoing issue, the major concern for Hollywood is to think of the ideas to continue with its shoots and not delay any further projects.

As the part of this plan, the industry has finalised nine features which will be filmed in California.

Recently, the California film commission released its latest round of film projects that have been chosen to get tax credits from the state’s incentives initiative.

Out of the nine projects, four are studio and five are indie titles. Action-thriller Gray Man by Joe and Anthony Russo, Jessica Chastain drama Losing Clementine, Octavia Spencer sci-fi thriller Invasion and one untitled Jordan Peele movie, one of the two films announced as part of his first-look deal with Universal.

Universal’s untitled Phil Lord and Chris Miller horror-comedy, sports drama Sweetwater are the first feature projects to qualify for tax credits since the initiative’s third iteration released at the beginning of the new financial year on July 1.

These nine upcoming films will give a sum of about $284 million in qualified in-state expenditures. They’re likely to employ an average of 1,340 crew members, 342 cast. Not only this, the projects will also consist of 14,397 background actors and stand ins. The shoots combined of all the films will be more than a 374 filming days in California.
