Intel hopes better hold over market using its new “Ice Lake” chip
On Tuesday, Intel Corp dropped the news about the newest flagship data center microprocessor, expecting to navigate a chip shortage in a bid to vie its competitors.
“We have already shipped about 200,000 test units,” says Intel. The new “Ice Lake” chip consists of cloud computing providers and others who run massive data centers.
The intel processing is comparatively slow than AMD’s new flagship data center server chip released last month. One year ago, The fumbles in the process failed with the in-house 10-nanometer manufacturing technology it uses to make the chip, while AMD outsources to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd and has gained market share against Intel.
But Intel is expecting greater hold over its supply chain, including a portfolio of data storage, networking, and other chips designed to work well with the “Ice Lake” processor. It will help the chips compete during the midst of a global chip supply crunch, in part by mitigating customer concerns about shortages.
