‘Black Spring’ Virtual festival by Afropunk to feature Rico Nasty and Seu Jorge

Afropunk has announced it’s Black Spring virtual festival to be held on April 23rd. The festival would be featuring Rico Nasty, Seu Jorge and many more.

The festival will be taking place online at 4 pm ET, similar to the previous year.

This year’s festival is themed ‘Black Spring’ for celebrating Afro-Latine and Afro-Caribbean artists.

Santana Caress Benitez would be hosting the show while Seafoam Walls, Black Pantera, ChocQuibTown, Projexx, and others are decided to appear.

The festival has collaborated with NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series to showcase some amazing performances by artists like Calma Carmona, Nenny, ChocQuibTown, and Luedji Luna.

‘Black Spring’ is a festival to celebrate the African lineage, protecting it from further exploitation by colonialism regardless of the language they speak.

‘Black Spring’ producer Tina Farris said, “We are black. Celebrating with Tiny Desk is the perfect partner for this expansion in highlighting Afro-Latine and Afro-Caribbean voices. NPR has always been a purveyor of world music, and we are excited about expanding the Afropunk tenants with their audience.”

NPR Music’s Abby O’ Neill further added that Afropunk has successfully endeared artist curation and encouraged new voices globally. Through this collab, the impact and celebration for this Tiny Desk edition can be successfully expanded.
