President Biden Tweets,”we have tripled the number of daily vaccination”

President Joe Biden reached out on Twitter to share the progress of the COVID-19 vaccination process.

On April 6, President Biden announced that states should make all adults eligible for vaccination by April 19, as opposed to the original deadline of May 1. The United States has vaccinated 40% of adults, with 23% of adults being fully vaccinated. The U.S. has administered a higher number of vaccines than any country in the world, and currently has a vaccination rate of 49 doses administered per 100 people. Officials predict vaccine supply will exceed demand by mid-May.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that 122.3 million people have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, including about 75.3 million people who have been fully vaccinated by Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine or the two-dose series made by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna.

The C.D.C. is now reporting people fully vaccinated by county of residence. This data is not available for all states, and is incomplete in others, artificially lowering the published vaccination rates for some countries.

The work to distribute the vaccine comes as more than 562,000 people in the United States have died after contracting the virus.

Though New York, Michigan, Florida, Pennsylvania and New Jersey account for 22% of the U.S. population, together they reported 44% of the nation’s new COVID-19 infections.
