The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4: Of Theoriers and Characters

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 trailer is out, giving way to a million theories and conjectures. Returning to Hulu on April 28th after multiple delays due to the pandemic, the 4th season of the dystopian drama is anticipated to be totally worth the wait.

From the trailer, we get to know that June Osborne has very little time on her hand to reunite with her daughter, Hannah. To remind you, June was seen last with Hannah back in Season 2 before she was taken away by the Mackenzie family. It is absolutely plausible that growing up under Gilead’s regime, Hannah would have no memory of June.

Elisabeth Moss will reprise the award-winning June Osborne, keeping her battle against Gilead on after smuggling 86 of vulnerable suffering children to Canada as seen at the end of Season 3. As she said in Season 1, “They should have never given us uniforms if they didn’t want us to be an army.” This season is set for Handmaid’s to fight back.

Another trailer suggests June’s attempts to liberate Hannah set in stone in her plans as she brings down Gilead. Serena Joy, who was June’s Commander’s wife, would play a significant role in this season by making Hannah believe that Gilead is the safest place for her to be in. However, as per fans’ suspicion, Season 4 could witness the tragic end of Hannah Bankole.

At the end of Season 3, we saw how Commander Lawrence chose not to escape Gilead. Now the question is would The Eyes come to know of his involvement in the childrens’ escape or would he be able to maintain his position.

What fate would the Marthas involved in the Mayday execution of the children meet? Will June force retribution out of Serena Joy? The erstwhile driver has now ascended as Commander Blaine and has obligations to The Eyes as well as to June. In the fourth season, his dilemma between love and duty make him the most conflicted character to watch for.
