Fashion designer Alber Elbaz passes away at the age of 59
Alber Elbaz, the Israeli fashion designer succumbed to COVID-19 on Saturday at 59.
Credited for the rejuvenation of Lanvin, he was not only a favourite amongst his clients, but of celebrities like Meryl Streep,Natalie Portman and Mr. Elbaz too.
A total gentleman at his craft and business, Anna Wintour, the global chief content officer for Condé Nast and editor of Vogue described him as, “Alber always thought of fashion as an embrace of life at its best.And when we wore his clothes, or were in his wonderful, joyful presence, we felt that too.”
Among the ones who paid tribute to him were the big designers like Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino and Stella McCartney.
Mr. Elbaz gave birth to AZ Factory, five years after being fired from Lanvin.The marvel of his creation can be judged by the number of celebrities who famously donned them;B eyoncé, Lupita Nyong’o, Pharrell Williams, Michelle Obama and Harry Styles.
Ms. Portman recalls him as the “ultimate fashion philosopher-mentor.”
He says things to me like: ‘Wear flats. You’re short. It’s much cooler not to pretend,’” Ms. Portman told Time in 2007, after Mr Elbaz was named in the list of the world’s 100 most influential people.
