Everything you need to know about ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ season 4 episode 4 ‘Milk’
After the episode 3, June wants to go back and for that she needs convincing Janine that all the other handmaids are dead and she promises that they are gonna be okay and there is no need to panic.
Both handmaids start sprinting along the railway tracks to head West, June wants to reach Chicago while the struggle for freedom is still going on there and they go inside a milk tanker after boarding the train and while Janine is into the milk, someone hears them and they need to seek refuge underwater, bluntly demeaning the temperature of the milk.
Serena expects Rita’s visit
Rita is completely unaware of her sister and nephew’s whereabouts in the databases of the refugee camps while Moira promises to continue looking out for them with no current news in hand.
When Rita visits Serena, she finds out about her pregnancy and calls it a miracle while Serena expresses her gratefulness to God believing it to be Gilead’s clean air and water.
This episode emphasizes the fact that inspite of being physically free, Rita is not completely independent as she needs to let go off her past that she is still held onto.
Janine gets frustrated
Janine and June are seen at odd ends as their escape plan seems a disaster. They are freezing in the milk tanker as the milk is very cold and Janine looks up to June expecting her to have a back up plan which she doesn’t and they eventually have to wait for the ‘Mayday’.
As the episode comes to an end, Rita is devouring on sushi as she finally feels freedom after letting go of the Waterford family. June changes her uniform and frees her hair while looking upon her uniform as she believes things to have ended. She apologizes to Janine for previous argument and the latter readily accepts it as she continues to eat.
