Azie Tesfai to debut as Guardian in Supergirl

On Friday the CW revealed the first look poster of Guardian, the golden shield-wielding vigilante played by at Azie Tesfai. Entertainment Weekly had reported in March that Azie Tesfai will be the next Guardian in the sixth and final season of Supergirl. Her character, Kelly Olsen will follow her brothers footsteps and  become the Guardian.

“That [has] been our plan since the beginning of creating that role…We just wanted to find the right context for it, and so it just evolved really beautifully in the context of the social justice stories we wanted to tell [in season 6],” said Jessica Queller, co-producer of Supergirl in a n interview with EW in March.

In the 12th episode of season 6’s , named “Blind Spot,” it addresses racial inequality and airs on Sept. 21. Tesfai co-wrrites the episode with co-producer J.Holtham, and thus became the first Arrowverse actor to ever contribute a script to one of the shows. Secondly, Arrow alum David Ramsey directed the episode and appears in it as John Diggle.

The finale is to air on Tuesday, May 11 at 9 p.m. The series is planned to return on Aug. 24 at 9 p.m.
