Ban on abortion after detection of foetal heartbeat in Texas
As per the announcement, a bill in defiance with the Supreme Court ruling that ensured a woman’s right to abortion was signed today by Governor Abbott of Texas. The bill emphasises that any abortion that takes place after the heartbeat of the foetus is detected will be considered illegal.
The ‘Heartbeat Law’ is will be effective from September 1, 2021. It is to be noted that- according to American Congress of Ob- Gyn, the heartbeat of a foetus can sometimes be detectable as soon as six weeks into gestation. That is to say, a woman can be totally unaware of her pregnancy before the decision of having the child slips from her hand. The law also does not grant an exception to the cases of rape or incest in this regard, which is definitely out of the norm.
The heartbeat bill is now LAW in the Lone Star State.
This bill ensures the life of every unborn child with a heartbeat will be saved from the ravages of abortion.
