Actor Steven Seagal joins pro-Kremlin party
Actor and martial artist Steven Seagal, who has long been a Russian President Vladimir Putin supporter, has joined a pro-Kremlin party.
Just Russia – Patriots – For Truth informed in a video clip on Saturday that Seagal, 69, who has Russian citizenship since 2016, had got party membership, reported Reuters.
The party was formed earlier this year when three pro-Putin leftist parties merged into one.
Seagal called for a clampdown on businesses that damage the environment in his welcome speech, Reuters reported.
“Without being able to arrest people, when we just fine them, they are probably making more money off the production of the things that are defiling the environment,” Seagal said.
Reuters added that the actor was provided Russian citizenship by Putin, who is a follower of martial arts.
Earlier, Seagal had worked as a representative of Russia. He was tasked with ameliorating humanitarian relations with the U.S. in 2018 and representing Russia in Venezuela in early May.
