BET Awards 2021: Here’s everything we know; premier date, performances, nominees and more

The BET, aka the Black Entertainment Television Awards is back this year, all scheduled to go on floors, this Sunday, June 27, 2021, at 8pm ET, premiering on BET Live, and the venue where it will be held is the Microsoft Theater, in Los Angeles.

With a whole lot of amazing performances by some very popular artists and a complete list of grand nominees, this prestigious award show will witness a star-studded event while celebrating the career and works of our popular black artists. 

Here’s everything we know about the event so far, and you should too!

 

Host for the night! 

Hosting away the event night, will be none other than the American actress, our one and only ‘Baby Boy’ fame, Taraji P. Henson.

 

Lineup of performances

The most awaited award night will witness some amazing performances to watch out for, delivered by some very famous black artists that include DaBaby, Andra Day, City Girls, DJ Khaled, H.E.R., Jazmine Sullivan, Kirk Franklin, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Migos, Moneybagg Yo!, and Roddy Ricch.

Besides these stars, some other artists who’ll be making their debut at the BET Award Show are, rappers Tyler the Creator and Rhapsody.

 

Some lesser known facts about BET

The artists to have been nominated for and won, for the most number of times at the BET are Beyonce and Chris Brown.

With a Whoopi 62 nominations and 28 wins, the female artist tops the chart, followed by the male one, with a great deal of 39 nominations and 16 wins.

 

Janet Jackson, who is a world renowned musician and a sister to the late King Of Pop, Michael Jackson, is the only artist to have won the BET Ultimate Icon Award, in 2015, for her exceptional contribution to the music industry.

Lifetime Achievement Award

This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award will be honoured to it’s recipient Queen Latifah, who rose to international recognition, with her debut album ‘All Hail The Queen’, released on November 28,1989, featuring her superhit single ‘Ladies First’.
