Suspect of Florida officer shooting arrested in Georgia, was found hiding in treehouse
The Police on Saturday arrested the man suspected of shooting a Daytona Beach police offer in the temple earlier this week. The shot left the officer in a critical condition.
The suspect was identified as Othal Wallace, 29, and was found hiding in a treehouse in Dekalb County, Georgia, east of Atlanta, Police Chief Jakari Young said in a press conference on Saturday. Wallace was found with multiple weapons, ammunition, and body armour.
Young said that the property where Wallace was found hiding is associated with a pro-gun group known as the NFAC. The organization has openly demonstrated against white supremacy and police violence.
Wallace was being held in Georgia on Saturday morning but was scheduled to return to Volusia County, Florida, and charged with attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer. Young attributed the arrest to surveillance and technology. The reward for information leading to the arrest of Wallace was raised to $200,000 but no one was able to claim the reward.
