EU considering legal action against LGBT-free zones in Poland

The European Union’s executive is considering legal action against Poland over “LGBT-free” zones set up by some local authorities there. Poland’s ruling party has made anti-gay policies such are restricting same-sex couples from adopting children. Poland is one of the largest beneficiaries of the EU’s financial aid.

“We are checking if there is a violation of EU treaties in the creation of those zones”, said one EU official. If Poland does not comply with EU norms, it could result in hefty fines.
