Madonna faces criticism for relating Lil Nas X’s BET kiss to her VMA one with Britney Spears

The BET Awards 2021 took place on 27th June. During the award show the famous “Old Town Road” singer Lil Nas X kissed one of his male dancers.
Facing two different opinions about the performance has been hard on Lil Nas X to which he replies through Twitter.

Madonna Louise Ciccone is an American singer, songwriter, and actress also known as “Queen of Pop.”

After the performance of Lil Nas X, Madonna posted an Instagram story about the performance and wrote, “#diditfirst” comparing it to her on-stage kiss with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the 2003 MTV VMAs.

But fans have been criticizing Madonna for her story.

An Instagram account and fashion watchdog group ‘@diet_prada’ made a post about Madonna’s story after realizing that Madonna follows them.

In the post they wrote, “@madonna , posting this bc I saw recently that you follow us (thx for the follow), but white women kissing on a public platform as you did at the 2003 VMAs is hardly as revolutionary as Black queer men doing so. White cishet people have always been given the space to do whatever they please… including, but not limited to queerbaiting. Need we remind you that you also appropriated vogueing/ballroom culture and built a legacy on top of a foundation that Black queer and trans folks laid?”

The account also posted a story screenshot of David Sabshon that said, “God she is so fucking out of touch. A white woman queer baiting for headlines and a queer black artist expressing himself. NO MADGE, IT IS NOT THE SAME”
