The new variant in the United States may revoke the progress on COVID-19

The new variant of COVID is dwelling in the country after citizens are relaxing from safety measures. The CDC announced the spread of new variants is likely to disturb the progress made till now related to COVID-19.

Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said, “Please hear me clearly: At this level of cases with variants spreading, we stand to completely lose the hard-earned ground we have gained,”

After weeks of tumbling cases number, new infections are on the rise again 2% more this past week to the previous week, Walensky says.

“Please stay strong in your conviction. Continue wearing your well-fitting mask and taking the other public health prevention actions that we know work,” Walensky added.

“It is so critical that we remain vigilant and consistently take all of the mitigation steps we know work to stop the spread of Covid-19 while we work our way toward mass vaccination.”

Amid all this chaos, the good news is Johnson Johnson vaccine will avail to regulate. Dr. Eric Rubin, a professor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health said, “There’s a kind of new urgency to it.”

“Because new viral variants are coming out right now, with some chance that some of them could eventually become somewhat resistant to the protection provided by vaccines, it’s really important to get it out there fast,” she added.
