All you need to know about the 2021 Award Season
COVID-19, the global pandemic has distorted and impacted all schedules including the award shows.
This year we saw all theatres across the world closing their doors for their spectators, studios pushing their release dates, and film festivals either canceling plans or moving online.
Amidst all this, various organizations behind each award show have adjusted their eligibility criteria in order to accommodate for continued uncertainty.
Though it is expected that there might be possible changes in the below schedule, here’s when you can expect to watch your favorite award show this year, as well as what channel it will air on.
Here’s a complete handy awards season calendar to keep you up-to-date.
Critics Choice Award

Date and Time: March 7, 2021, at 7-10 p.m. E.T
Where to watch: The CW
The Critics’ Choice Awards was re-dated from January, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now the ceremony will take place on March 7, 2021, still happening live from Santa Monica, CA. Taye Digges will be returning to host the show for his third consecutive time.
The Grammy Awards

Date and Time: March 14, 2021, at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET
Where to watch: CBS
The Grammys hosted by Trevor Noah was originally slated to be held at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles. It was originally scheduled for January 31, 2021, and is postponed due to concerns regarding the spread of coronavirus. However, on Jan. 5, the Recording Academy announced a postponement to March 14.
The Grammys had already planned on a limited show for 2021, forgoing an audience completely and only allowing presenters and performers onsite during the show. Nominated artists will not be allowed on-site either, likely leading to a situation similar to the 2020 Emmys where nominees appeared and accepted awards remotely.
The BAFTA Awards

Date and Time: March 25, 2021, at 7 pm GMT
Where to watch: TBA
The 74th annual British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, originally set for Feb. 14, will now take place on March 25. The nominations will be announced on March 9. The event is scheduled to happen live as planned.
The Screen Actors Guild Awards

Date and Time: April 4, 2021 at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET
Where to watch: TNT and TBS
The Screen Actors Guild Awards have been moved back to April 4, 2021, to avoid a clash with the Grammys.
SAG conveying their disappointment about the change in dates of the Grammys said, “we are extremely disappointed to hear of the conflicting date, March 14th, announced today for this year’s Grammy Awards telecast. We announced the same date for the SAG Awards last July with the intent to give the greatest possible scheduling consideration for other awards shows. We expect the same consideration from sister organizations throughout the industry.” To this, Mason Jr. clarified that even March 14 is not “set in stone.”
The Independent Spirit Awards

Date and Time: April 24, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. PT / 10:00 p.m. ET
Where to watch: IFC
The Indie spirit awards conventionally take place the Saturday before the Oscars so when the Academy redated its show, so did Film Independent. However, this year’s ceremony will take place on the Thursday before the Oscars. The awards scheduled to happen live as usual.

The Academy Awards / Oscars

Date and Time: April 25, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT
Where to watch: ABC
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences postponed the 93rd annual Oscars by two months from its original air date of Feb. 28 to April 25 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Oscars are not planning a virtual award ceremony, reported Variety. At the moment, no host has been announced for the 2021 Oscars. The award ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, where it has traditionally taken place and which has previously seated up to 3,400 people.
The Tony Awards

Date and Time: Indefinitely postponed
The Tony Awards is the most valuable entertainment ceremony in the theater world. The Antoinette Perry Awards well known as Tony Awards given for Excellence in the theater. The Tony Awards perceived as Oscars Awards show of the theater world.
The Tony Awards were meant to take place in June 2020, but have been indefinitely postponed due to the coronavirus as Broadway continues to stay dark.
“We will announce new dates and additional information once Broadway opens again,” a representative for the show said.
