Selena Gomez reveals her views on Politics, Faith and her Music Career

Selena Gomez did a photoshoot with the VOGUE and while the pictures have come out as mesmerizing , what she revealed about herself for the April’21 edition gives fans a better understanding of her psyche; what she believes in, and her views on some of the most raging topics of today.

Gomez, 28, has already accomplished what a lot of us could only dream about. However, there is nothing stopping her as she constantly finds herself in the midst of channeling her inner artist and trying new things. For instance, before the pandemic hit us all, she was only days away from releasing her third solo album Rare and prepping to launch her makeup line Rare Beauty.

However, after dealing with the huge halt the pandemic caused us all, she started recording a long-promised Spanish-language EP, Revelación and filmed a quarantine cooking show for HBO Max, called Selena+Chef. She also spent some quality time with her dogs and her friends.

While she calls herself a workaholic, the singer mentioned, “The whole point of quarantine for me personally was just to stop, and I have a hard time doing that. And my main focus was really politics, and making sure I took it seriously.” Until now, she hadn’t been involved, a tendency of celebs to avoid losing fans over their views. However, she commented on the widespread protests over the abortion ban in Deep South in 2019, follows up on news on CNN and the Black Lives Matter Movement just provided a fillip to her efforts of urging people to step out and vote.

She hadn’t voted before 2020 and added,  “Either I didn’t care or I just was not recognizing the importance of who’s running our country, and that’s really scary to think about.” Though she didn’t choose sides, she is glad of the way the election results have transpired.

Selena remains known for her music and is gradually shifting towards acting, which would require her personal fame to be sublimated and transformed. The Spanish EP allows Gomez to do both at the same time. On “De Una Vez: and “Baila Conmigo”, the first two songs to be released from Revelación, she moonlights as an alternate version of herself, working in the key of sunset melodrama, singing songs that are meant to be played on hazy afternoons, on old radios in rooms where lace curtains sway in the breeze. “It’s a Sasha Fierce moment, for sure,” she says, calling the project a ‘homage’ to her heritage.

Opening up about spirituality, Salena stated that she has read Rick Warren’s book The Purpose-Driven Life  thrice. “I’m very, very spiritual,” she says. “I believe in God, but I’m not religious. I’ve been a Christian for a while now. I don’t talk about it too much—I want to, but it’s gotten a bad rep. I just want to make it clear that I love being able to have my faith, and believe in what I believe in, and that truly is what gets me through,” she concluded.

Gomez believes in metaphysical pull and has faith that she has ended up her for a reason. It is mesmerizing to see a teen star’s awakening to issues that would inspire a lot of other young adults out there!
