Vodafone, Fastweb alleges TIM over market abuse, seeks 1.1 billion euros in damages: document

Telecom Italia (TIM) is asked for a total of 1.1 billion euros ($1.31 billion) by Vodafone and Fastweb for damages after a ruling passed by Italy’s competition watchdog stating they abuse their dominant market position, a document showed.

The regulator fined TIM over 116 million euros for abusing its position in the broadband market in an attempt to obstruct the entrance of rivals, in March last year.

In its 2020 annual financial report, the former Italian phone monopolist said it would challenge the claims in court “with solid arguments”.
