Actor John Boyega slams Disney for treatment of non-white actors on “Star Wars” series

Criticizing the treatment of non-white characters in the latest Star Wars films, British actor John Boyega said they were marketed as important elements in the franchise but were ultimately “pushed to the side”.

In an interview published by GQ magazine, Boyega expressed bitterness over how his role as black stormtrooper Finn faded in the later episodes of the trilogy which concluded with ‘The Rise Of Skywalker’ in 2019.

Boyega added even his white co-stars knew that other characters in the movies were being “ill-treated”.

The 28-year-old actor became a viral sensation in June when he gave an impassioned speech at an anti-racism demonstration in London after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
