The K-Pop boy band has given ARMYs many moments to cherish and here is why BTS deserves all the love that they have.
BTS, also known as Bangtan Sonyeondan or Bangtan Boys, is a South Korean seven-membered boy band.
Being one of the largest boy bands, the septet consists of Namjoon, Jungkook, Taehyung, Seokjin, Min-Yoongi, Jimin and J-Hope.
Debuted in 2013 under the ‘Big Hit Entertainment’ label after formation in 2010, BTS has come a long way, with over 20 million Twitter followers, and tons of ‘ARMY’ fans.
The band has achieved worldwide appreciation and love for their brilliant performances as well as their inspiring works and philanthropies.
Here are some of the boy band’s top iconic moments, that are sure to steal everyone’s hearts-
1. ‘No More Dream’ debut performance
The band’s very first live performance aired on the K-Pop chart show ‘M Countdown’, a day after the release of their debut album ‘2 Cool 4 Skool’. The boys performed their single ‘No More Dream’ from the same album. Although they were not quite popular back then, it is now an iconic moment, cherished by all.
2. Release of first Japanese album ‘Wake Up’
BTS stands true to the saying that music has the ability to transcend boundaries and can be enjoyed regardless of it’s language. The band has proved so, by releasing songs in various languages including korean, English and Japanese. With the release of their first Japanese studio album ‘Wake Up’, in 2014, they went ahead with releasing two more albums in this language, including ‘Youth’ in 2016 and ‘Face Yourself’ in 2018.
3. Beginning of the Bangtan Universe with ‘I Need U’
The band is popular for their amazing vocals, chic fashion as well as breathtaking choreography. With the release of ‘I Need U’ music video in April 2015, the ARMY were acknowledged with the ‘Bangtan Universe’, a story that revolves around the fictional journey of band members becoming friends and being devastated by their own fate and struggles.
4. ‘Run BTS!’ debuts in 2015
Besides delivering amazing performances on and off stage, the members are also entitled to participate in a number of reality shows, where they can travel and perform various interesting activities. One such show is the ‘Run BTS!’ that aired it’s season one’s first episode on August 1, 2015. The weekly show that premiers on their channel ‘V-LIVE’, is all about the boys having fun while playing games, acting in and writing skits, answering quizzes and lots more. They are divided in teams and play with a motive to win, so as to save themselves from the embarrassing and hilarious consequences.
5. First time at the American Music Awards
It was in November 19, 2017, that BTS attended the American Music Awards for the very first time, after already having been to the Billboard Music Awards, the previous year. The band, already popular by that time, performed ‘DNA’ and got an opportunity to interact with many popular Western artists and even arrange for collaborations.
6. Making us proud at the United Nations!
As their popularity rose, people began looking up to them as inspirations and ideal artists. BTS members are true inspiration as humans today, using their popularity and recognition for noble causes and never fail to voice their opinions on critical issues. Visiting the UN Headquarters for supporting their campaign to help with the education and employment for the youth while Namjoon gave a heartfelt speech on the band’s behalf, BTS became the first K-Pop band to do so.
7. Receiving the Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit by the President of South Korea
BTS made us super proud, when they were the youngest recipients to ever receive the Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit by the South Korean government, at the 2018’s Korean Popular Culture & Arts Awards.
