Barry Jenkin’s The Underground Railroad series’ trailer is out now; Check it out
The first trailer for The Underground Railroad is finally released on Thursday. In the show, the newcomer Thuso Mbedu is really outshining in her role.
The Amazon Original limited series hails from the Oscar winner Barry JenkinsĀ (Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk). It is based on Colson Whitehead’sĀ Pulitzer Prize-winning novel.
The Underground Railroad depicts Cora Randall’s (Mbedu) longing need for freedom in the antebellum South. After breaking out of a Georgia plantation for the rumored Underground Railroad, Cora finds out about a real railroad. This railroad is filled with engineers and conductors, and a secret network of tracks and tunnels beneath the Southern soil.
In her excursion, Cora is chased by Ridgeway (Joel Edgerton), an bounty tracker set on taking her back to the plantation, particularly since her mother Mabel is the single runaway slave he never catches hold of. As she heads out from one state to another, Cora fights with the tradition of the mother who abandoned her and her own battles to understand a life she never thought was conceivable.
Edgerton, William Jackson Harper (The Good Place), Will Poulter (Midsommar), Lily Rabe (American Horror Story), and more characters also appear in the trailer. Rounding out the cast are Chase W. Dillon, Aaron Pierre, Sheila Atim, Amber Gray, Peter De Jersey, Chukwudi Iwuji, Damon Herriman, Irone Singleton, Mychal-Bella Bowman, Marcus “MJ” Gladney, Jr., and Peter Mullan.
Jenkins acts as showrunner and directs all 10 episodes. He also released four teasers for the series starting in October 2020.

All 10 episodes of the series will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on May 14 in more than 240 countries and territories across the globe.
