The forthcoming American superhero movie Blue Beetle, based on the DC Comics character Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle, is being made by DC Studios and the Safran Company. It is being directed by Angel Manuel Soto from a script by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer. It is planned to be the 14th movie in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Jaime Reyes is chosen to become a symbiotic host to the Scarab, an old alien biotechnology relic that offers him a powerful exoskeleton armor, transforming him into the superhero Blue Beetle, when he graduates from college and returns to his hometown of Palmera City.
