Colorado cop mistakes good samaritan for cop-killer, shoots him dead

A heroic bystander was shot down by an officer of the Colorado police while trying to save the cops from a hateful gunman.

The bystander has been identified as Johnny Hurley who was present in downtown Arvada when he witnessed Ronald Troyke murder Officer Gordon Beesly who was on duty. Hurley shot Troyke dead with a concealed weapon according to security footage.

The officer responding to the case mistook Hurley for the cop killer and shot him fatally.

The identity of the cop who shot Hurley is still unknown. He has been placed under administrative leave as the investigation continues on whether he should be charged or not.

A statement was released by Hurley’s family on Friday asking for privacy at this moment of grief.

The statement also read, “Our beloved son and brother Johnny is no more. We loved him dearly. May he rest in peace. Before Johnny engaged in a clear-eyed response to a dire situation, he was already a wonderful human being with great enthusiasm for life.”
