Colton Underwood’s Netflix reality series receives a huge backlash

A petition filed by Change.org regarding the cancelation of Netflix’s upcoming reality series starring Colton Underwood is heating up.

Recently he came out as gay in a ‘Good Morning America’ interview with host Robin Roberts on April 14. After that ‘PEOPLE’ confirmed that he has been shooting a documentary about his coming out journey for a Netflix show.

This project will have appearances of celebrities from the LBGTQ+ community, including Gus Kenworthy who will reportedly mentor Underwood.

Underwood’s girlfriend, Cassie Randolph obtained a restraining order against him, citing allegations of harassment and stalking. It is because of this that a Change.org petition was filed to get the show canceled by Netflix.

“Cassie is a victim of Colton’s abuse, and he does not deserve a platform in any way,” the petition’s creator wrote. “Regardless of his sexuality, Colton should not be given a platform as a result of his abusive, manipulative, and dangerous behavior.”

At the time of filing, the petition has attracted more than 25,000 signatures. Three months after Underwood and Randolph separated in May 2020, the California resident filed for a restraining order against the former athlete. He was accused of allegedly stalking and harassing her. In the filing obtained by PEOPLE, she accused him of putting a tracking device on her car and sending her numerous text messages, allegedly posing as an anonymous stalker.

Randolph also stated that Underwood showed up at both her apartment and her parent’s home without prior information.
