Damian Lewis grieves the loss of late wife Helen McCrory through a heartfelt tribute

‘Homeland’ star Damian Lewis has penned an emotional tribute to his late wife Helen McCrory. On April 16, Damian took to Twitter to announce that his wife Helen McCrory passed away after battling cancer, at the age 52.

Helen, mother to daughter Manon (14) and son Gulliver (13), is quite famous for her roles in series like Peaky Blinders and Harry Potter films.

Damian had penned a touching tribute to Helen on Sunday, April 18 in ‘The Sunday Times’.

He wrote, “Helen was an even more brilliant person than she was an actress. She was a people person, sure. ‘I’m much more interested in who I’m with than where I am,’ she would say, and innately wanted to share. But she also lived by the principle of kindness and generosity. That you put these things out into the world to make it better, to make people feel better.”

Praising his late wife, whom he married in 2007, he said that he had never seen someone who spreads happiness all over like her and that she continued to be grateful to her caregivers even while on death-bed.

Damian further added, “I’ve never known anyone able to enjoy life as much,” Lewis wrote. “Her ability to be in the present and enjoy the moment was inspirational. Nor was she interested in navel-gazing. No real interest in self- reflection; she believed in looking out, not in. Which is why she was able to turn her light so brightly on others.”

He said that their kids, Manon and Gulliver have inherited their mother’s qualities of being witty, curious, fearless, talented and beautiful. He said that Helen often told them to not feel sad as she has lived enough and in the way that she wanted to. Damian further added that Helen even encouraged him to move on and get married after her death.
