Donald Trump suspended from Facebook ‘indefinitely’
Social media giant Facebook banned President Donald Trump from the platform “indefinitely” for inciting the violence in the US capital this week.
“We believe the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great,” Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said.

“Therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete,” Zuckerberg added.

Initially, the US president was suspended from the social media platform for just 24 hours, as a result of two posts in which the 74-year-old leader appeared to praise the actions of the rioters.
The announcement came after hundreds of Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol in an unprecedented attack by breaching several layers of security and entering the buildings at a time when the US Congress was on its way to certify Joe Biden as the next president of the United States.
Meanwhile, the US Congress today accepted the Electoral College result, clearing the way for Joe Biden to become president of the United States.
