Dr Fauci emphasises that delta variant is the ‘greatest threat’ to America’s approach to a COVID free future
After the devastation, the delta variant caused in India and the rapid rise of cases in the UK due to its contractibility, Dr Anthony Fauci, Chief Medical Advisor, White House, again emphasises that Delta Variant of the novel Coronavirus will prove to be their greatest challenge in the attempt to rein in the virus and defeat it.
Last week, Dr Fauci stressed that the Delta Variant is much more difficult to contain and has much worse adversities when compared to the Alpha strain. The number of cases of COVID 19 due to the Delta variant in America has increased from 10% to 20% in a week. In this scenario, getting vaccinated is even more crucial.
According to a study- “two weeks after the second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech was 88% against the delta and 93% effective against alpha when dealing with symptomatic disease.”
“As worrisome as this delta strain is with regard to its hyper transmissibility, our vaccines work. If you get vaccinated, you’ll be protected against this delta variant,” said Dr Rochelle Walensky, Director, CDC.
