Federal agents executed search warrant against Giuliani’s Manhattan apartment

Federal agents on Wednesday have executed a search warrant at the Manhattan apartment of Rudy Giuliani. It is an attempt to proceed with the criminal investigation by the federal prosecutors that been started two months ago, according to two people familiar with the matter.

The lawyer has been the focus of an investigation concerning his activates in Ukraine. He hasn’t been charged yet and he denied wrongdoing.

It is unusual for prosecutors to issue a search warrant against a lawyer, but the federal prosecutors of Manhattan have done so in the past, when it was executed against lawyer, Michael Cohen.

Notably, both Giuliani and Cohen have served as former President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer.

Investigators have seemed to seize Giuliani’s electronic device, according to one person with knowledge of the matter, as reported by The Times.

The New York federal prosecutors have in the past year sought to issue a search warrant against Giuliani, as they led an investigation into Giuliani. But the Justice Department officials in Washington resisted the strengthening of their evidence.

According to the Departmental guideline, search warrants against lawyers like Giuliani required signatures by the highest level of the Department of Justice, likely by Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco.

The lawyer has been under scrutiny for two years now. The inquiry has explored that if Giuliani may have been involved in undisclosed foreign lobbying for Ukrainian officials when he tried to replace the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine.
