Filmmaker Ridley Scott confirms working on new ‘Alien’ movie

Scott is famous for directing the sci-fi horror film Alien (1979), Blade Runner (1982), Thelma & Louise (1991), Gladiator (2000), Black Hawk Down (2001), and The Martian (2015).

Veteran filmmaker Ridley Scott has confirmed that he is making yet another film in his famous Alien franchise, adding it is too early to say whether the new movie will be a continuation of his prequel series, that started with Prometheus in 2012.

“We went down a route to try and reinvent the wheel with Prometheus and Covenant,” Scott told Forbes.

“Whether or not we go directly back to that is doubtful because Prometheus woke it up very well. But you know, you’re asking fundamental questions like, ‘Has the Alien himself, the facehugger, the chestburster, have they all run out of steam? Do you have to rethink the whole bloody thing and simply use the word to franchise?’ That’s always the fundamental question.”

Most recently, Scott has been directing Raised by Wolves – an American sci-fi drama TV series involving androids raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. The English film director also serves as an executive producer for the show.

For the uninitiated, Scott is famous for directing the sci-fi horror film Alien (1979), Blade Runner (1982), Thelma & Louise (1991), Gladiator (2000), Black Hawk Down (2001), and The Martian (2015).
