Fox News Star Tucker Carlson trends on Twitter; Gets criticized for his comments on the Derek Chavin verdict

The Fox News Star, Tucker Carlson is being criticised for yet another questionable gesture on TV.

In response to an officer, who criticised Derek Chavin who’s been returned a unanimous guilty verdict by a jury of five men and seven women on all three counts in the death of George Floyd, Tucker Carlson has a hearty laugh.

The much-awaited ‘guilty’ verdict was declared a year after Chavin was charged with assault leading to death of George Floyd. In June 2020, a video of Derek Chavin crouching on the black man’s neck got re-shared on social media, bringing in worldwide attention and birthed the ‘Black Lives Matter’, the movement putting focus on the ‘need for racial justice in America’.

On Tuesday’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” the Fox News star claimed the jury’s verdict not as an unbiased judgment based on the trial but rather the jurors’ way of saying “Please don’t hurt us.”

“Can we trust the way this decision was made?” Tucker Carlson, the Fox News anchor asked.

“Everyone understood perfectly well the consequences of an acquittal in this case,” Carlson said. “After nearly a year of burning and looting and murder by BLM, that was never in doubt.”

He continued: “Last night, 2,000 miles from Minneapolis, police in Los Angeles preemptively blocked roads. Why? They knew what would happen if Derek Chauvin got off.”

Carlson received a huge rebuke for such an attitude, especially, as the Goerge Floyd murder was the epicentre of the Black Lives Matter movement.
