Google to warn users against unreliable information
Google announced a new development that will inform users when search results around a story are rapidly changing. Google will show a warning saying “it looks like these results are changing quickly,” with a subheading reading “if this topic is new, it can sometimes take time for results to be added by reliable sources.”
The notice will warn the users that the results may not be accurate. Google said that while it is the most reliable search engine, accurate information is often not available immediately when a piece of news is just breaking.
The users can revisit the search engine later for more reliable information.
The warning will certainly not resolve the issue of unreliable and false content from surfacing nor is it clear as to when Google will be able to determine if there are enough credible sources. But it will urge the user to wait for more information rather than believe the first report available.
