Here are Top 10 times the ‘Kardashian-Jenner’ Clan made headlines for not-so-good reasons
The Kardashian-Jenner clan began originally with Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner. It comprises their children, Kourtney, Kim, Khloé and Rob Kardashian, tyeir grandchildren and the family’s endless controversies. However, following her divorce with Robert in 1991, Kris tied the knot to Caitlyn Jenner and they share two daughters, Kendall and Kylie.
The family has always been in the limelight, giving some juicy controversies to talk about. So, here we pen down the clan’s top 10 controversies:
1. Kim Kardashian’s Sex Tape
The one pre-video leaked a few months before the premier of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, their E! reality series. Kim and Ray Z recorded a video in 2003 and it got leaked in 2007. “I’m not naïve to that fact that that’s pretty much how I was introduced to the world. It was a negative way, so I felt like I really had to work 10 times harder to get people to see the real me. I felt humiliated”, Kim stated in an interview in June 2012.
2. Kylie Jenner’s Lips
Kylie faced a lot of backlash for getting lip injections as a teenager. The reason? To enhance her beauty out. However in 2017, in the Life of Kylie episode,she disclosed the reason to be one of her ex boyfriend, who said, “I didn’t think you would be a good kisser because you have such small lips.” Finally, it made her release her own makeup line, Kylie Cosmetics, that made her a billionaire due to the generation of $420 million in retail sales in its first 18 months.
3. Scott Disick Cheats on Kourtney Kardashian
The nine-year relationship of Kourtney and Disick was called off in July 2015 after Disick was seen on a yatch in South France with his ex-girlfriend Chloe Bartoli. “Kourtney is freaking out and kicked him out again,” an insider told Us Weekly at the time. “She can’t believe he’d be so stupid to embarrass her and be photographed all over Chloe.”
4. Lamar Odom Cheats on Khloe Kardashian
Lamar admitted of cheating on Khloé on various occasions during their 2009-2016 marriage. “I [was] genuinely blown away. Like, ‘When did he fit that in?’ I don’t know,” Khloé stated in an interview with Howard Stern in 2016. Meanwhile, Odom admitted to US Weekly in 2017, “Bitches and THOTs came out of the woodwork. If there is one thing I regret when I was married, it was having multiple affairs with different women. That wasn’t the stand-up thing to do. I wish I could have kept my d–k in my pants.”
5. Kendall Jenner’s Pepsi Ad
Kendall had to face a major backlash for being in a Pepsi ad! What? It was of course the year 2017 and the ad featured a protest, urging social media users claim that this kind of commercial was a condescension to movements like Black Lives Matter just to sell soda. Eventually, Pepsi issued an apology and snapped the ad while the model stated in Vogue in March 2018 that her “intention was not to hurt anyone.”
6. Kendall and Kylie’s T-Shirts
The Jenners have been condemned for their clothing line, Kendall + Kylie. Their vintage shirts featured images of late rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. in June 2017. “The disrespect of these girls to not even reach out to me or anyone connected to the estate baffles me,” Voletta Wallace, Biggie’s mom wrote on Instagram at the time. Adding to the controversy, one of the photographers filed a lawsuit against the Jenners, but it was later dropped in April 2018.
7. Kim’s Blackface Controversy
After facing huge criticism for darkening her skin tone for promotion of her KKW Beauty products from fans, Kim stated in The New York Times, “I would obviously never want to offend anyone. I used an amazing photographer and a team of people. I was really tan when we shot the images, and it might be that the contrast was off. But I showed the image to many people, to many in the business. No one brought that to our attention. No one mentioned it.”
8. Kim and Kanye West’s Feud With Drake
Kim picked on a fight with Drake in 2018, over her estranged husband Kanye West’s matter. “Never threaten my husband or our family,” she tweeted at the time. Days later, West spotted Drake following Kim Kardashian on Instagram. “It’s the most f—ked up thing of all,” Kanye tweeted. “Imagine having a problem with somebody and they follow your wife on Instagram. Who’s [sic] bright idea was it to tell Drake to follow my wife on Instagram ? This person is not [Drake’s] friend.”
9. Kylie’s Billionaire Status
Okay, a controversy again!
In 2019 and 2020, Kylie was named as the “youngest self-made billionaire” by Forbes. But on recalculation, Forbes alleged that the revenue earned from Kylie Cosmetics sales “significantly smaller than people have been led to believe.” The Forbes magazine even made the claim that Kylie and members of her team had forged tax returns to “look even richer.” Kylie,however tweeted,“I’ve never asked for any title or tried to lie my way there EVER. period. … i am blessed beyond my years, i have a beautiful daughter, and a successful business and i’m doing perfectly fine.”
10. Kim’s 40th Birthday Getaway
It was the year 2020, COVID pandemic had preyed upon every being, but then Kim had to share photos of her 40th birthday from a unbeknownst island along with family. “I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is,” she then tweeted.
