Here’s the real cause behind James Levine’s death; Have a look

James Levine, a name that wielded power and influence in Opera circles owing to his long stint as Met Opera music director passed away on March 9 in Palm Springs, California. His remarkable career spanning decades was tainted with allegations of sexual assault that led to him being laid off in 2018; the allegations came from three men who cited assault by him when they were teenagers, dating back to 1968.

While his death was made known immediately, the cause was not revealed then, raising some eyebrows. However, his physician for 17 years, Dr.Len Horovitz has now come ahead and said he died of “natural causes”.

The maestro, known for his wild hair and bespectacled face, was long revered by the Met’s audiences, singers and symphony-sized orchestra at America’s cathedral of opera whose standards he helped place among the highest in the world. The most celebrated since Leonard Bernstein, he led about 2,500 performances of more than 80 different operas since his Met debut in 1971, more than anyone else since it was founded in 1880.
