Jeff Bezos announces upcoming space trip with brother Mark

American business magnate and founder CEO of multi-national technology company Amazon, Jeff Bezos announced on Monday that he would be riding on the first human flight of New Shepard along with his brother Mark- this is his first decision that has been announced to the public and media ever since he announced he would be stepping down as the CEO of Amazon.

The two would be taking the trip in late July as announced by Bezos in a video on his personal Instagram account, “Ever since I was 5 years old, I’ve dreamed of travelling to space. On July 20th, I will take that journey with my brother.”

Named after the astronaut Alan Shepard, the first American to ever go to space, New Shepard is a vertical-takeoff, vertical-landing, crew-rated suborbital launch vehicle that is being developed by Blue Origin-aerospace manufacturer and sub-orbital spaceflight services company owned by Bezos. The vehicle features a capsule housing up to six astronauts. According to a website dealing with the rocket system, the spaceflight is reported to last for 11 minutes,

Anticipating his upcoming space journey, Bezos said in a video, “To see the earth from space, it changes you, it changes your relationship with this planet, with humanity.”
