Jerry O’Connell becomes the first male permanent co-host on CBS show The Talk

Jerry O’Connell on Wednesday became a permanent co-host on the CBS daytime show The Talk. A frequent guest of the show, O’Connell became the first male co-host in the previously all-female show.

“It’s fun, and it works, and we’re going to have a lot of fun,” the actor said on Wednesday’s episode as the announcement was made.

In a statement, executive producers Heather Gray and Kristin Matthews told Deadline, “We are beyond thrilled Jerry O’Connell is our new host. We loved his infectious enthusiasm, humor, openness and insights as a guest co-host and look forward to him now bringing those dynamic qualities to the show every day.

He thanked the show for a short video of his previous appearances, saying that it felt like a retirement video.

The announcement came in on O’Connell’s 14th wedding anniversary with his wife Rebecca Romijn.

Jerry O’Connell is best known for his roles in movies like Jerry Maguire, Crossing Jordan and Sliders.
