Joy Ride release date confirmed! Check out potential cast, plotline and other details
New stars are emerging, and the upcoming generation of Asian-American talent may see themselves represented at the greatest level. Stephanie Hsu is one of these rising talents, and her depiction of Jobu Tupaki/Joy in Everything Everywhere All at Once earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 95th Academy Awards. While Jamie Lee Curtis, her co-star, received the Oscar instead of her, she was still the subject of attention from the film industry, which was waiting to see what she would do next.
The 2023 American comedy film Joy Ride was written by Teresa Hsiao and Cherry Chevapravatdumrong from a screenplay by Lim, Chevapravatdumrong, and Hsiao. It was directed by Adele Lim on her feature directorial debut. Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Stephanie Hsu, and Sabrina Wu are the movie’s stars.
After the news of the partnership between Point Grey Productions and Lionsgate, the movie was revealed in 2018, with Lim’s confirmation as the director coming in 2021. During August and October of the same year, the cast was revealed, and production began in British Columbia in late-month. Joy Ride: Plot
At the moment, as per the reports, the characters’ capacity for insanity and the plot’s iconic comedic gold potential should be enough to get anyone pumped for the film’s debut. The preceding summary already makes references to “identity” and “self-discovery,” therefore it is probable that the movie will also deal with more profound subjects.
In addition to that, the synopsis of the film reads, “The hilarious and unapologetically explicit story of identity and self-discovery centers on four unlikely friends who embark on a once-in-a-lifetime international adventure. When Audrey’s business trip to Asia goes sideways, she enlists the aid of Lolo, her irreverent, childhood best friend who also happens to be a hot mess; Kat, her college friend turned Chinese soap star; and Deadeye, Lolo’s eccentric cousin. Their no-holds-barred, epic experience becomes a journey of bonding, friendship, belonging, and wild debauchery that reveals the universal truth of what it means to know and love who you are.”
