Kim Kardashian’s name gets linked to the smuggling of ancient Roman statue

Kimberly Noel Kardashian West, aka Kim Kardashian is an American  sociazl media influencer, model, businesswoman, producer, and actress who was born on October 21, 1980. Kardashian first gained media attention as a friend and stylist to Paris Hilton, but her fame grew after the release of Kim Kardashian, Superstar, a 2002 sex tape with her then-boyfriend Ray J in 2007. She and her family started appearing in the  reality television series Keeping Up with the Kardashians (2007–2021) later that year . Kim has concentrated on her own companies in recent years, launching KKW Beauty and KKW Fragrance in 2017. In 2019, she founded Skims, a shapewear brand that was originally known as “Kimono” but was renamed after a backlash.

Kim Kardashian was recently named in a US government civil infringement case for an ancient Roman statue seized at the Los Angeles port in June 2016 that Italian officials say was stolen from Italy. Kardashian bought the statue, known as Fragment of Myron’s Samian Athena, from a Belgian art dealer, according to court documents. It’s thought to be a copy of an early to mid-Roman empire ancient Greek statue. According to the seizure charge filed in federal court in Los Angeles last week, customs officials seized the statue after the import broker failed to provide satisfactory documentation about its source.
