Looking back at Halle Berry’s relationships and three marriages

Halle Berry has had a dream of a career. From modeling to entering and conquering pageants like Miss USA (first runner-up) and Miss World (sixth position) and landing an Academy Award, her journey has been long. However, her personal life woes have also run parallel to her career. We bring to you a chronological list of all her past relationships, including her three marriages.

Danny Wood 

This might come as a surprise but yes Halle Berry has dated one of the boys from the band ‘New Kid on the Block’ before she rose to fame back in the late 80s and early 90s.

Kevin Costner 

While Kevin and she are friends today, canards were rife that she was involved with him while he was still married to Cindy Silva. She used to appear in Living Dolls and had just begun her career back then.

Wesley Snipes 

This was one of the most controversial relationships back in the day. While most people would agree Berry was with Snipes, what came as a shock were the revelations made by her. She said she was in a relationship with someone who beat her and to the extent that it impacted her hearing and while there was no name-calling, people were pretty sure it was Snipes.

Eddie Murphy 

They both starred in the rom-com Boomerang, which catapulted Berry to fame and is considered one of the most underrated films today. During the time of release in 1992, these two actors were rumored to be dating as their closeness was being noticed on the sets.

Christopher Williams

Yes, you heard that right! Halle Berry was once involved romantically with the R&b Singer Christopher Williams whose I’m Dreamin’ was the most popular soundtrack back then! However, it soon fizzled out.

David Justice 

This romance did end up in marriage but also in an ugly divorce! Berry reportedly had seen Justice Berry when he played a baseball game that aired on MTV in 1992.  While Justice went ahead and asked for her autograph, she gave her number instead and six months into dating, she proposed to him and they got married.

While Berry spoke fondly about her husband during all her interviews, Justice claimed that she was insecure and had trust issues. Things began to get messy and they split in March 1996.  Berry filed for a restraining order to have Justice remain at least 500 yards from her Hollywood Hills home after she said he acted irrationally when he came to get his personal belongings. While this took a toll on her, she diverted all her attention to her work. There were also claims of domestic abuse which Justice vehemently defended himself against in 2015.

Shemar Moore 

While this was again just a brief romance, Moore later opened up and said “I’m still grateful for that relationship. I was smitten not just because of who she was, but because we were so similar in so many ways. She was biracial, so she was kind of going through the same things I was in Hollywood.” to BET

Eric Benet 

Benet was berry’s second husband. This was a marriage of bliss but had to end because he cheated on her and admitted that he had. Halle later revealed in an interview with Oprah Winfrey that the revelation led to an emotional breakdown for her but she eventually emerged stronger.

Michael Ealy 

This was yet another relationship that came out of filming for a movie! The duo formed a deep bond while they were shooting for Their Eyes Were Watching God and culminated in a relationship in 2004.

Gabriel Aubry 

This relationship might have been all things bliss when it began but it certainly did not end that way. Halle claimed that he abused her emotionally and they both had to go see a therapist. They have a daughter, Nahla Ariela Aubry, over which they had a messy court battle.

Olivier Martinez

Halle’s third marriage happened pretty soon after her ugly split with Aubry. It was also reported that two men got into a scuffle over her. Thye got married in 2013 and had a son, Marco in the same year. However, this didn’t last either.

Alex Da Kid 

Halle started dating this British music producer soon after her third divorce for about five months.

Van Hunt 

Currently, with Van Hunt, Berry seems to have found the love of her life in him. A few weeks ago, she shared this selfie on Instagram and captioned it “I Only Wish I’d Known You Sooner”.
