Lucy Liu opens up on how she encourages Asians to vote through her role in Hollywood
Lucy Liu is an Elementary actress, aged 52, is voicing out her opinions and using her influence to change the Asian-American Community and feels that it all starts with a vote.
In an interview, Lucy has shared how she uses her role in Hollywood to encourage The Asian Community to go get voting.
Previously, Lucy had said that she would remain completely apolitical because of being a UNICEF ambassador.
As of now, Lucy is no more the same as before. She is doing all that she can to contribute in bringing about a change in the Asian-American Community.
She is using her fame and popularity to speak on the increasing number of Asian-American hate crimes in the United States.
Lucy told Women’s Health, I’m willing to do that because I don’t want other people to feel unsafe. I want some of the people who think this is okay to know that this is not okay.”

The Charlie’s Angels star in the May 2021 issue said that she is extremely passions about voting and hopes that her voice can reach many and encourage them to come out and vote.
Lucy feels that Asian-Americans don’t vote as much as the White Americans do. She lashed out at the criminal acts of hate and violence against Asian-Americans, calling them ‘terrifying’ and ‘outrageous’, which also included the Atlanta mass shooting that killed six women.
Lucy feels that the power of words matter as the crimes take place because seeds of certain thoughts are being planted in people’s minds which make them act the way they do.

She also confessed that she feels unsafe to go out in NYC with her five year old son named Rockwell. This is because there have been multiple cases of violence against Asian-Americans in the previous month.
Lucy added, “I don’t feel relaxed enough to take my son out without having a plan. I was born and raised here. I chose to live in a cosmopolitan place because I feel safer in it. These attacks have really created a vulnerable feeling, not just for me but for so many other people.”
