Many power outages in Texas; ERCOT firmly advises on conserving electricity till Friday
A number of power generator will be offline for maintenance work, some because of the winter storm in February. In the month of April, Woody Rickerson, Vice President of Grid Planning and Operations at ERCOT told the press that “We’re seeing today probably 3,000 megawatts less solar generation than what we would normally see on a clear day.” He said that they would be repeating the process again to completely deal with the issue.
There have been a number of power outages in the last week because excessive use of electricity by people, the supply from the grid cannot keep up with the demand which is only rising due to the temperature change. For safety reasons, ERCOT urges people to cut down on their usage, as much as is reasonable.
