Matthew McConaughey wins over Greg Abbott for Texas governor poll

Although McConaughey isn’t up for running for Texas governor officially, he would be voted more than the current governor Greg Abbott according to a new poll.

The poll that was released by The Dallas Morning News and the University of Texas at Tyler on Sunday showed actor Matthew McConaughey winning over the current governor Greg Abbott by double digits as the next Texas governor.

McConaughey had just talked about running for the governor and didn’t make it official yet.

However about 45 percent of the total 1,126 registered voters said that they would vote for Matthew if he ran for the elections while only 33 percent said that they would vote for the current governor Greg Abbott, remaining 22 percent preferring someone else over the two.

The Oscar winner actor Matthew said that he might give an honest consideration for running for the Texas government last year.

McConaughey told an Austin-American Statesman, “Look, I’m a ‘Meet You in the Middle’ man. When I say ‘aggressively centric,’ that sometimes gets parceled over there with ‘Oh, that’s a shade of grey, a compromise. And I say, ‘Bulls—. That’s a dare. Right now, that’s radical. You wanna be brave? Come on over here.'”

Matthew has been close to where he comes from and has helped the people of Texas in many possible ways. In February, he had helped raise funds with his wife to help those who were affected by storm. He even joined the faculty chat for the instructors at the University of Texas amidst the pandemic via zoom call.
