May becomes National Mental Health Awareness month, White House releases
“I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim May 2021 as National Mental Health Awareness Month.”- an excerpt from the proclamation.
In it, President Biden recognises and addresses the importance of his fellow Americans being mentally healthy and how crucial it is for the country.
Now, with the helplines dedicated to this cause- National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK or by calling 1-800-662-HELP and mental health awareness and treatments having their own place in the American Rescue plan, a whole month would be dedicated to move many steps ahead in the right direction.
Nearly one in five Americans lives with a mental health condition. And while we’ve made progress, far too many communities face barriers in accessing mental health care. This Mental Health Awareness Month, here’s how we’re working to change that: https://t.co/75nlpqAc7z
