Misinformation is the greatest threat to COVID-19, says surgeon general

US Surgeon General considers misinformation among people as the greatest obstacle in overcoming Covid. A poll result mentioned that two-third of unvaccinated people believed in myths against the vaccine. After an initial surge in cases, vaccination rates have slowed, and only 53.7% of the population has received at least one dose.

The recent delta variant is far more dangerous and the unvaccinated population is all at high risk. In Los Angeles County, 99.6% of all of the Covid-19 hospitalizations, and deaths are occurring among people who are unvaccinated, as per county health officials.

“There is so much misinformation out there about the vaccine, coming through so many channels and a lot of it being spread on social media. It’s inducing a lot of fear among people.” Dr. Vivek Murthy told a CNN.
