Netflix in deep remorse after the passing away of Prince Philip
Netflix, which streams ‘The Crown’, based on the lives of the royals, is in deep grief and remorse after the news of Prince Philip’s death was announced by The Royal Family.
Netflix is all set to release season 5 of ‘The Crown’ with a brand new cast.
It has issued a statement, expressing deep grief and sorrow over the Duke of Edinburgh’s death.
Soon after his death’s news broke, Netflix, Left Bank Pictures, Sony Pictures Television, and the production team on The Crown, stated that they were deeply saddened to hear of the death of The Duke of Edinburgh and extended prayers and condolences to the entire Royal Family.
The series debuted in 2016 as a chronicle on the lives of the royals and of Queen Elizabeth II’s rise to power. Claire Foy and Olivia Colman played the role of Elizabeth on seasons 1-2 and 3-4, respectively, while Matt Smith and Tobias Menzies portrayed the late Duke.
To honour her beloved Philip, whom she married in 1947, for 73 years, Queen Elizabeth II, is now on the eighth day of her mourning period and will therefore abstain from performing Royal duties and even withhold State affairs.
‘The Crown’ will continue on Netflix in the near future, with Imelda Staunton and Jonathan Pryce, who will be replacing Foy, Colman, Smith, and Tobias Menzies as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. Netflix has confirmed to EW that the production will soon take place in the coming summers.
