Due to the overwhelming response garnered by the game, it was relaunched as ‘Shantae: Risky’s Revenge’, a sequel to ‘Shantae’ released on 3DS.

WayForward had taken to Twitter to post the announcement of the game relaunch with a short video saying, “The original Shantae is (almost) back! Experience Shantae’s original GBC adventure in all its hair-whipping, belly-dancing, shape-shifting glory when it lands in the Nintendo Switch eShop on April 22!”

It has already been a couple of weeks since the first launch of Shantae on Switch and WayForward has announced a giveaway on Twitter to honour the fans due to the amazing response it received.

‘Shantae’ was released as a physical game by the ‘Limited Run Games’ on Switch, but WayForward has brought the digital-only version to be shopped from April 22, on the eShop.
