Apart from being a brilliant artist that he is, McCartney is also known for his amazing philanthropy, having worked for causes like, animal rights, seal hunting, land mining and poverty, to name a few.

Let’s have a look at the musician’s top interesting facts, that you may probably be unaware of-

#1 A successful painter!

Not many may know, that apart from being a great artist and an even greater human being, McCartney makes for an accomplished painter too, having had over 70 paintings to his name, all put up for exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery, in Liverpool, England.

Talking about his passion for painting with ‘BBC News’ in 2000, he said, ”I’ve been offered an exhibition of my paintings at the Walker Art Gallery, where John and I used to spend many a pleasant afternoon. So I’m really excited about it. I didn’t tell anybody I painted for 15 years but now I’m out of the closet.”

#2 Began with a horrible debut!

All great things have had a disastrous beginning!

This stands true to McCartney’s debut stage performance, the time when he was up on the stage officially for the very first time, on October 18, 1957, as a singer for his then band ‘Quarrymen’, now known as ‘The Beatles’.

While performing at the Conservative Club, a nervous McCartney kept cracking his voice several times, followed by his fellow bandmate John Lennon bursting into laughter while witnessing the act.

#3 A witness to US’ 9/11 terrorist attacks

Just like many others, Sir McCartney has been an eyewitness to the US terrorist attacks, by the ‘Al-Qaeeda’ group, a horrific plane crash scenario, targeting right at the Twin Towers, taken place on September 11, 2001.

While being present at the JFK Airport, in NewYork, at the time of the incident, McCartney expressed his experience with ‘Hollywood Reporter’ sharing, “Out of the window on the right hand side of the airplane, you could see the Twin Towers. First there was a plume of smoke and then there was a second. I said that’s an optical illusion. It’s probably just some sort of little fire. Finally the steward came over to me and said, ‘Look, something serious has happened in New York and we’ve got to get you out of here.’”

#4 Had been imprisoned once!

It was during ‘The Beatles’ tour of Hamburg, Germany, when Bruno Koschmider called off the band’s contract to perform at the Kaiserkeller, suspecting the members to have agreed for a performance with their rival band the ‘Top Ten Club’.

As they made their way to their hotel room, it was quite dark and so they came up with a strange idea of igniting a condom and hanging it to a nail on their room’s wall, discovering about which, Bruno informed the police, only for the members to spend their night under custody.

#5 Legal fights against Steve Jobs!

It is astonishing to know, that not only McCartney but all his fellow Beatles members have been involved in a 30 year long legal battle with Steve Jobs, having sued him thrice.

After ‘The Beatles’ formed their own multimedia company and record label named ‘Apple Corps Ltd.’ they discovered the existence of another tech firm with a similar name, as ‘Apple Computer Inc.’ founded by none other than Steve Jobs, whom they filed a lawsuit against, having won the case along with a compensation in millions.
