President Biden issues letters to third stimulus check recipients
Following the step taken by his predecessor last year, President Joe Biden is also set on sending a letter to Americans during the third round of direct payments who received a stimulus check, which is a package of tax rebates and incentives used by the government to stimulate their nation’s economy and save their country from a financial crisis, this one being the COVID-19 outbreak.
A similar one-page which has now started arriving in many American households was issued also by former American president Donald Trump that was a part of the $2.2 trillion economic recovery package signed by him last year. Trump had received a lot of backlash and criticism for his move of personally signing the letter alleging him of damaging the credibility of the IRS (Internal Revenue Services) and promoting his own political agendas, with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, describing the situation as, “unfortunately appears to see the pandemic as just another opportunity to promote his own political interests.
IRS said that Biden’s letter addressed to “My Fellow American” has been mailed to around 78 million people where he informs the recipient of the amount he/she is eligible for which is around $384 billion distributed in the form of stimulus checks to those eligible since American Families Plan got active in March this year. The move is a part of the American Rescue Plan, a $1.9 trillion relief package to those severely affected by the pandemic. The letter is written in both English and Spanish.
Unlike Trump, Biden’s name would not be mention in the last batch of paper checks. White House press secretary Jen Psaki said, “This is not about him. This is about the American people getting relief.”
The mailings would continue as it processes more of the stimulus payments
