Regé-Jean Page won’t make a come back for Season 2 Of ‘Bridgerton’

Lady Whistledown reveals Regé-Jean Page will not return for Bridgerton season 2.

The Duke won’t come back! Regé-Jean Page, who turned into a worldwide heartthrob as the dashing Duke of Hastings in Season 1 of Bridgerton, won’t be part of Season 2 of Shondaland’s hit Netflix show. In specifically Bridgerton style, the news was uncovered by none other than the show’s gutsy Lady Whistledown.

Page and Phoebe Dynevor were breakout stars as Simon, the Duke of Hastings, and Daphne Bridgerton, the duo whose epitome of romance was at the focal point of Season 1 of the show.

For the People, alum Page had just been contracted for one season, and the plan has always been him doing just Season 1, based on the main Bridgerton book, The Duke And I, sources said. His character will be referred to going ahead however he will not show up. As a Bridgerton, Dynevor’s Daphne will continue on being a part of the show, Lady Whistledown affirmed.

“While all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings,” Lady Whistledown wrote. “We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family. Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear.”

Page responded to the note on Twitter, saying “Pleasure and a privilege! An honour to be a member of the family – on and off screen, cast, crew and incredible fans – the love is real and will just keep growing.”

Bridgerton season 2 will chronicle the quest for an appropriate marriage for the eldest kin, Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), as chronicled in the second book of Quinn’s Bridgerton series, The Viscount Who Loved Me. Anthony’s love interest, Kate Sharma, will play the role of Simone Ashley. Production on the new season, whose new cast additions also incorporate newbie Charithra Chandran as Edwina and Rupert Young as Jack, starts toward the beginning of April.
