Royal Dutch Shell must reduce CO2 emissions, court ruling says
To meet the set target in order to become a net-zero emissions company by 2050, Royal Dutch Shell will have to cut down on carbon dioxide emissions to a pretty great extent. Friends of the Earth Netherlands, The environmental campaigning group, was the petitioner and the ruling was in their favor. The group celebrates the first-ever court statement that implies reductions in emissions so as to meet climate goals.
An announced by the company itself in September, their management goals were to bring down these emissions by 20% by 2030 and 45% by 2035. The Hague has passed a judgment exclaiming that the company must work to bring down these emissions by 45% until 2030 with respect to the 2019 levels.
